Letters To Cleo

Letters to Cleo is an alternative rock band from Boston, built around singer Kay Hanley with guitarists Greg McKenna and Michael Eisenstein. The name comes from a pen pal Hanley wrote to as a kid, whose letters kept coming back. Their debut Aurora Gory Alice produced "Here & Now," which broke nationally after landing on the Melrose Place soundtrack, and they followed it with Wholesale Meats and Fish (1995) and Go! (1997). A run of covers for the 10 Things I Hate About You soundtrack, plus a rooftop cameo in the film, made them a permanent fixture of 1990s nostalgia. The band split in 2000 and has been reuniting steadily since; Hanley also sang for the animated Josie and the Pussycats, and drummer Stacy Jones went on to American Hi-Fi.
