John Fogerty (born May 28, 1945, Berkeley, California) is an American rock songwriter, guitarist, and vocalist best known as the creative force behind Creedence Clearwater Revival, one of the best-selling American rock bands of the late 1960s. His swamp rock anthems — 'Proud Mary,' 'Born on the Bayou,' 'Bad Moon Rising,' 'Fortunate Son' — remain some of the most played songs in rock history. After a long legal dispute with Fantasy Records over his own catalog, Fogerty reclaimed his voice as a solo artist and continues to tour, performing the CCR hits he wrote and owns again.
