Janani K. Jha, formerly known as J. Maya, is a singer-songwriter who blends jazz, folk, and South Indian Carnatic influences with lyrics drawn from literature and Greco-Roman mythology. A Harvard graduate who turned down law school to pursue music, she appeared on Survivor 45 and has released critically acclaimed work including her debut album The Rest of the Laurels.
