Benny Green is a hard-bop jazz pianist whose playing was shaped by stints with Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers, Betty Carter and Ray Brown. A prolific recording artist and bandleader, he is a mainstay of the New York jazz scene. His album Solo, his first solo recording in twenty years, reflects on pieces by pianists who inspired him.
