Anthony Davis is a Pulitzer Prize-winning American composer and pianist, called "one of the great living American composers" by the New York Times and inducted into OPERA America's Hall of Fame in 2023. His politically-engaged operas include "X: The Life and Times of Malcolm X" (1986), which made its Metropolitan Opera debut in 2023, and "The Central Park Five," which earned him the 2020 Pulitzer Prize for Music. Davis is a professor at UC San Diego and also known for pioneering the fusion of jazz and contemporary classical forms.
